They are different tools for different purposes.
HA dermal filler comes in the widest range of textures and firmness, from very soft and flexible products to much firmer products.
Because of this variety, HA fillers are extremely versatile and can be used across almost every part of the face.
Depending on the product selected, a doctor may use:
- softer HA fillers for delicate areas and subtle correction
- medium-consistency HA fillers for volume restoration and shaping
- firmer HA fillers when stronger projection or structural support is required
This wide range allows HA fillers to address areas and treatment needs that may not be suitable for other injectable categories, including biostimulators such as Ellansé and Radiesse, or collagen-based injectables such as Dusederm and Karisma.
Ellansé serves a different role in Dr. CK's approach.
Rather than simply filling a space to create volume, Ellansé is commonly placed deeper and used like a structural pillar to provide support while stimulating collagen over time.
Therefore, it is not simply a question of whether Ellansé or HA filler is better.
The more important question is what that particular part of your face needs:
volume, support, contouring, collagen stimulation — or a combination.
